Microgravity Effects on Secondary Metabolism of Plant-Affecting Bacteria

This project investigates the impact of simulated microgravity on bacterial secondary metabolism, with a specific focus on the relative quantification of known plant-beneficial compounds under simulated versus normal gravity conditions. The study also employs various genetic editing approaches to enhance the production of beneficial antifungal compounds that were underproduced in simulated microgravity, aiming to generate biocontrol strains potentially useful in space-based agriculture.
