This is the dataset used for the paper, ' On the challenges of measuring energetic particles in the inner belt: A Geant4 simulation of an energetic particle detector instrument, REPTile-2'. This paper is submitted to JGR: Space Physics. <br>It provides the simulated proton data used in the paper and has two types of files:1) Data file with the filename ('DataAll_xxx.mat') contains incident energy (E), incident momentum direction (Phi, Theta), and energy deposit by incident protons on detector 1(D1), guard ring 1(G1), D2, G2, D3, G3, D4, and G4. Events that have no energy deposit on any of the detectors and guard rings are removed. <br>2) Energy file with the filename ('EnergyAll_xxx.mat') contains the total number of incident energy for protons that ranges from 1 to 200 MeV with a bin size of 0.1 MeV. Note that the total number of incident energy includes events that deposit no energy on any of the detectors and guard rings.
