This dataset comprises multiple alignments of nuclear ITS rDNA sequences from the fungal and algal symbionts of the lichen Protoparmeliopsis muralis. The fungal alignment includes sequences obtained via Sanger sequencing. The dataset also contains two algal alignments: one consisting exclusively of Trebouxia species, and another encompassing all other algal taxa. These algal sequences include data from Sanger sequencing, DNA metabarcoding-derived swarms, and reference sequences sourced from the GenBank database.
