World Stress Map

The World Stress Map (WSM) is a global compilation of information on the crustal present-day stress field maintained since 2009 at the GFZ Helmholtz Centre for Geosciences. It is a collaborative project between academia and industry that aims to characterize the crustal stress pattern and to understand the stress sources. All stress information is analysed and compiled in a standardized format and quality-ranked for reliability and comparability on a global scale. The WSM is an open-access public database and is used by various academic and industrial institutions working in a wide range of Earth science disciplines such as geodynamics, hazard assessment, hydrocarbon exploitations and engineering.

世界应力图（WSM）是一项始于2009年，由波茨坦赫尔姆霍茨中心GFZ德国地球科学研究中心维护的全球性现代表壳应力场信息汇编。该图集为学术界与产业界的合作项目，旨在描述地壳应力分布特征并探究应力源。所有应力信息均以标准化格式进行分析与汇编，并按可靠性及可比性在全球范围内进行质量评级。WSM是一个开放获取的公共数据库，被众多从事地球科学各学科（如地动力学、灾害评估、烃类开采和工程等）的学术及工业机构所使用。
