Several traverses were completed from Mirny to Dome C by the Russians in the 1970s and 1980s. Precise location records of 15 stations along the traverse were completed by JMR analysis, first in the 1977/78 traverse, and repeated in the 1983/84 traverse. This allowed the calculation of ice movement, and hence ice velocity, to be made for those sites.
These documents have been archived in the records store at the Australian Antarctic Division.
