Field photos and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images with text metadata files of Guadua sp. nov. from Nayarit, Mexico

This data set contains photos of Guadua sp. nov. from Nayarit, Mexico taken in the field and scanning electron microscopy images of the foliage leaves and floral bracts. Photos taken in the field show the unique characters of this species to facilitate differentiation from closely related species and the habitat conditions in which it was collected, as well as the differences seen between collections made in September of 2023 and April of 2024. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images were used to describe the foliar and floral bract micromorphology of the species. These images may be considered alongside similar SEM images taken for other species to provide a direct comparison of taxa or to detect patterns in the micromorphology of Guadua and/or other bamboos and grasses.
