Previous centrifuge tests have characterized the behavior of rocking foundations on sand and clay, but fewer analyses have been done on the effects of shape of the footing on the rocking behavior of a foundation.
In this series of experiments, we have studied the effect of footing shape (rectangular, trapezoid, H-shaped) and moment-to-shear-ratio on the deformations of rocking-sliding shallow footings.
The experiments can be divided into two main groups:
1. Embedded footings and
2. Surface footings
Similar footings have been tested in these two groups to also study the effect of embedment on the settlement/uplift/sliding.
