资源简介:
Data from prior laboratory experiments that describe the transformation of solid ice into hollowed forms is provided. These data span a relatively large temperature range (-37 to -2C). Data are given for ice crystals grown at constant temperature and supersaturation and three kinds of data files are provided: Data for the temperature and ice supersaturation pairs for crystals that remain compact with macroscopically flat facets. Data for the temperature and ice supersaturation pairs for crystals that have unstably growing facets that hollow. Data for temperature and ice supersaturation pairs that define when crystals transition from compact crystals to those with hollowed facets. These data are described in an article that is in submission at the Journal of the Atmospheric Sciences (An Approximate Criterion for Morphological Transformations in Vapor Grown Ice: Ice Crystal Complexity and Effective Density, J.Y. Harrington and G.F. Pokrifka, submitted).
