Seasonal Distribution of Heterotermes tenuis (Hagen) in Eucalyptus spp.

This work aimed to study the sazonal distribution of Heterotermes tenuis (Hagen) using cellulosic traps installed at the soil level; 1,64 ft; 3,28 ft and 4,92 ft of depths. Sampling occurred every two weeks for a period of 12 months in Cuiabá-MT in Eucalyptus spp plantations. Data were analyzed using the Inflated Poisson Zeros (PIZ) statistical model. In total 266,918 individuals were collected, and the higher average was in traps at 3,28 ft depth. The analysis of sampled sites revealed MG1277 clone and the specie Eucalyptus camaldulensis with the highest and lowest amount of termites collected in traps, respectively. The increased number of individuals is related to the rainfall factor, but a greater number of individuals during the dry season was recorded due to the favorable conditions offered within the cellulosic traps such as food, temperature and humidity.
