R code and data for "Tree diversity increases the distribution-evenness and biomass of fine roots in a subtropical forest experiment"

Fine roots mediate belowground resource uptake and carbon sequestration, yet how tree diversity shapes fine root systems remains underexplored. Using > 2800 soil cores from > 150 plots in a large-scale subtropical forest biodiversity experiment, we quantified horizontal and vertical homogeneity of fine-root biomass and related them to tree species richness and stand age.
