With this study we wanted to identify genes that are differently expressed after a silencing of FH in kidney tumor cell lines or in normal kidney primary cells. FH belongs to the alternative pathway of the complement system (innate immunity), and is expressed by some tumor cells types, including kidney tumor cells. The silencing of kidney tumor cell lines for FH, profoundly impacts the cell phenotype. Whereas, the silencing of normal kidney primary cells did not impact the cell phenotype. Thanks to the RNAseq technology we were able to identify genes that are differently expressed and at the same time, biological processes that are modified in tumor cell lines.
