Integrated transcriptome and metabolome analysis was performed to elucidate the comparative molecular mechanisms underlying the distinct taste and nutritional profiles of two Chinese cabbage varieties i.e. ET and JY. A total of 370 differentially accumulated metabolites (DAMs) and 6737 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were filtered and found to have significant differential abundances between JY_VS_ET. DEGs were mainly enriched in starch and sucrose metabolism, amino acids biosynthesis, flavonoids and glucosinolates (GSL) biosynthesis.
