VPRS 14320 Register of Inward Correspondence, Mallee Division

This series was maintained in the Mallee Division of the Occupation Branch of the Department of Crown Lands and Survey after 1896. It registers correspondence received relating to the administration and application of the Mallee Land Acts.Registrations consisted of the registered number, the dates of the letter and of the entry, the name and address of the correspondent, a summary of the subject of the letter and how it was dealt with. This last entry was most usually the number of the file to which the piece of correspondence was attached or a reference to a District Land Office. There may be within a registration, notations of the numbers of other pieces of correspondence recived on the same subject denoted by a letter and a number.
