Metagenomic assembly of genomes from a segmented filamentous bacterium present in the gut of Malian children

The goal of this study was to characterize a segmented filamentous bacterium (SFB) species identified in the gut microbiota of Malian children. Using a combination of Meta3C, RNA bait-mediated SFB genome capture, and metagenomic Illumina and Pacbio sequencing, we reconstructed metagenome-assembled genomes (MAGs) for the SFB species Human-SFB-ML from two children in order to investigate its genomic features and phylogenetic relationship to other SFB species.
