The transmission pathway of antibiotic resistant bacteria to humans in the urban environment is poorly understood. The objective of this study was to use phylodynamics to characterize the spread of antibiotic resistant E. coli (ABR-Ec) cultured from putative canine and human feces present on urban sidewalks in San Francisco, California.
