Trichoderma asperellum strain:SM-12F1 Genome sequencing

Trichoderma spp. are probiotic fungi widely found in the soil environment. They are often used for the prevention of plant diseases caused by pathogens, as a bio-fertilizer, and for remediation of heavy metal in soils. Trichoderma asperellum strain SM-12F1 isolated from soils contaminated with arsenic (As) adjacent to a realgar mine located in Shimen County, Hunan Province, China. The fungal cells displayed As transformation and detoxification activities, and the use of the cells to promote growth and decrease As accumulation by crop plants, indicate that T. asperellum is an eco-friendly and cost-effective bio-material for environmental remediation.
