Spanish Language Teaching in the Philippines under Late Colonial Rule Dataset

This dataset contains the corpus used to examine how Spanish language teaching was structured in the Philippines between 1863—when a royal decree established a system of primary education with the specific aim of promoting Spanish across the archipelago—and 1898, marking the end of Spanish colonial rule in the islands. The dataset includes three text types: legal documents, textbooks, and articles from journals and newspapers.
