Rodent Pathogen Profiling in Swine Farms and Urban Environments (PRJCA044978)

This project utilizes comparative metatranscriptomics to profile the active viromes and bacteriomes of rodents (n=173) from two distinct anthropogenic landscapes in southern China: intensive swine farms and urban areas. The primary objectives are: 1) to characterize environment-specific microbial signatures and pathogen landscapes; 2) to identify viruses with zoonotic or agricultural importance, including novel viral species; and 3) to provide a foundational dataset that supports One Health surveillance by elucidating the role of rodents as epidemiological bridges at the wildlife-livestock-human interface.
