This dataset, titled *Fact-Checked Images Shared on WhatsApp During the Brazilian and Indian Elections*, was created by the Department of Computer Science, Federal University of Minas Gerais. It contains 1,032 images that were shared in public WhatsApp groups during the 2018 Brazilian general election and 2019 Indian general election, and have been fact-checked. During the dataset creation process, the research team collected data from public WhatsApp groups and verified the information using the websites of fact-checking organizations. This dataset is primarily used for research on the spread and detection of fake news, particularly fake news phenomena during election periods.
