Although ulcerative colitis (UC) is restricted to the colon, nearly 50% of patients who undergototal proctocolectomy with ileal pouch anal anastomosis (IPAA) develop UC-like inflammation ofthe ileal pouch (pouchitis). UC pouchitis is a potential model of UC. We prospectively examinedthe pouch transcriptomes of UC and familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) IPAA patients tounveil molecular mechanisms of UC pouchitis susceptibility.
