Myeloid cell specific deletion of AMPK alpha worsens ocular bacterial infection

The eye is highly susceptible to inflammation-mediated tissue damage evoked during bacterial infection. AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) plays a crucial role in governing essential cellular functions such as growth, proliferation, and survival. Here, we investigated the specific involvement of AMPK alpha 1 in myeloid cells. Overall, our study underscores the role of myeloid-specific AMPK alpha 1 in promoting the resolution of inflammation in the eye during bacterial infection.
