North American literature-reported eastern oyster mortality

A systematic search of Web of Science, Proquest, and Scopus for reports of eastern oyster (Crassostrea virginica) mortality across North America. Included within the data set are three files and a meta data file that describes all the variables within the data. The search to collect these data was conducted on 2025-11-19 (November 19, 2025) within Web of Science, Proquest, and Scopus using the following terms and search structure: “eastern oyster*” or “Crassostrea virginica” or “C. virginica” or “American oyster*” AND “mort*” or “surviv*” AND “fresh*” or “salin*” or “storm”. The full unedited search results are included as file North American Literature-reported Eastern Oyster Mortality Full Search Results.csv, the search with Boolean operators applied to narrow the results for analysis is included as file Literature Reported Oyster Mortality Data Cleaned with Boolean Operators.csv, and the final results of the search including the reported mortality rates from the studies are included as file Literature Reported Oyster Mortality Data.csv.
