NRS-17957 | Register of revenue collections [Corowa Court of Petty Sessions]

This series is comprised of one volume recording a summary of the fees, fines and licences collected by the Clerk of Petty Sessions at Corowa.Each folio records one month of revenue, at the end of which the amounts are totalled. The date the money was remitted to Treasury is recorded, as well the Treasury receipt number and date the receipt was received. One column records the corresponding Cash Book folio number for each day's entry.Specifically, this register records the collection of fees for the Summons and Charge Court, Small Debts, Transfer of Billiard and Bagatelle and Publicans' Licenses, Registrar General, Dog Registration, District Court, and Poundage. Fines were collected as imposed by Courts or for the Sale of Confiscated and Unclaimed Property. Revenue from licenses was collected from Hawkers, Pedlars and Pawnbrokers, and for Tobacco, Cigars and Cigarettes, Timber, Fuel and Quarry, and Fees under the Noxious Trades and Slaughtering Acts and the Fisheries Act (44 Vic. 26). Revenue was also collected from Sheep Assessment (30 Vic. 16) and the Sale of Government Property.A number of blank columns were also provided on each folio. In this register, the following headings have been entered by hand on various pages: School Fees, Public Officers' Fees for Affidavits, Surplus Cash, Dog Registration Forms, Copies of Depositions, Sale of Electoral Rolls, and Music Permits.This volume also contains the Corowa Crown Lands Agent's Register of revenue collections, 1898 to 1901 (NRS 19391).
