This project used velocity data from two different projects completed at the O.H. Hinsdale Wave Research Laboratory at Oregon State University to apply the orbital velocity method for estimation of wave reflection. Alternatively to established estimation methods, the orbital velocity method requires only a single point ADV and can be placed more conveniently near reflection surfaces or within a limited space. In numerical models, the orbital velocity method was found to be comparable to results obtained using previous methods of estimation but had yet to be applied to a physical model. This research is a great step towards expanding this method for semi-automatic separation of the incident and reflected waves. In its current form the orbital velocity method was not able to provide estimation for non-linear waves but it may be able to be expanded to irregular waves by means of Fourier Analysis and estimation of reflected waves from each harmonic component of the velocity data.
