This dataset accompanies a paper analyzing the effect of particle size on the sound absorption and mechanical properties of cenosphere powders produced in two different sizes. The sound absorption and mechanical properties of these powders at various powder bed heights were evaluated based on experimentally measured frequency dependencies of the sound absorption coefficient using an acoustic impedance tube in the frequency range from 250 to 6400 Hz. From these dependencies, the noise reduction coefficient and the arithmetic mean of the sound absorption coefficient were first evaluated to assess the sound-absorbing properties of the cenosphere powders. Subsequently, based on the primary sound absorption frequency peak position and the bulk density, the longitudinal elastic coefficient was determined to compare the mechanical properties of the investigated powder materials.
