CTD data was acquired using an SBE19plusV2 (SBE19plusV2_6801.xmlcon) instrument. Processing of raw CTD data files was performed using SBE Data Processing software version 7.26.7. First, CTD .hex files were converted to .cnv files. During conversion, a hysteresis correction was applied for oxygen, and the downcast data selected for further processing. A low-pass filter of 0.5 seconds was applied for temperature and conductivity, and a filter of 1 second was applied for pressure. Data were aligned by advancing oxygen data by 2 seconds. Cell thermal mass corrections were made for conductivity measurements using the primary temperature sensor, with a thermal anomaly amplitude (alpha) of 0.0300 and a thermal anomaly time constant (1/beta, or tau) of 7.0000. Ship heave was corrected for by removing scans where the CTD velocity over a window of 300 seconds was less than 20 percent of the mean speed. For the first time window, scans where the CTD velocity was less than 0.25 m/s were removed. The surface soak was not removed. For each cast, oceanographic and/or thermodynamic parameters were computed using EOS-80 and TEOS-10 independently (where possible). For EOS-80, a window size of 2 seconds was used for oxygen concentration and descent rate/acceleration. A tau correction was applied for oxygen. Finally, data were binned into 1 db bins, with bad scans excluded from bin averages. Surface scans, with pressure <0.5 db, were binned together and assigned a pressure value of 0 db.
