This study evaluates the HIVE scRNA-seq method, a pico-well-based technology for processing bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) cells from horses with equine asthma (EA). The HIVE method employs pico-well technology, providing a gentle workflow specifically designed for fragile cells. The incorporation of cells stabilized within the pico-wells enables easy storage and subsequent batch processing. The method's rapid and straightforward fixation, facilitated by portable cartridges, simplifies field and clinical sampling. HIVE scRNA-seq libraries were prepared from equine bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) cells obtained from horses undergoing evaluation for equine asthma. Seventeen HIVE (v1) scRNA-seq libraries, generated from 13 BAL samples, were sequenced on the NovaSeq 6000.
