A bricklaying class, Los Angeles, circa 1900. The image shows fifteen students and two instructors sitting and standing near an open-sided enclosure in which there are thousands of stacked bricks. The students wear work clothes, generally including long-sleeved shirts, pants, suspenders and hats. Of the students, most are white and some are Latino. The instructors wear suits and stand off to the right. A pen inscription on the reverse reads "Pa with his class that he taught brick laying." While the matte has missing portions at the upper corners as well as soiling, chipping and pest damage, the photo is overexposed due to sun and may have faded slightly, so the overall condition is fair.
