VPRS 17134 Official Bid for Olympic Games

This series constitutes the official bid for the 1996 Olympic Games presented to the International Olympic Committee.Each copy of the bid (there is one in English and one in French) consists of three volumes.Volume One is titled 'The City', and contains information regarding the City of Melbourne and its history, the proposed Olympic Village, Melbourne's sporting tradition, climate and profiles of the people behind the bid.Volume Two is called 'The Sports', and outlines the olympic sports and the venues proposed to stage them.Volume Three is titled 'The Media', and outlines the media facilities for covering the Olympic Games.VPRS 9295 (Working Group files) and VPRS 9294 (Administrative files) would contain material that was eventually used in the final draft of this series. Information regarding the sporting venues and the proposed Olympic Village are two examples.
