Comparison of cutaneous and digestive microbiota sequencing techniques

The aim of this study is to compare cutaneous and digestive microbiota sequencing techniques. Different non-invasive samples were taken for each dog (05 dogs in total in this study): Skin swabs (ear and axillary region) + Digestive samples (oral swab, and fecal matter 'on clean floor'). The samples were analyzed by three different methods to determine the composition of the microbiota for each sample. This will allow us to identify the most 'informative' method for each type of sampling.This study provides a better understanding of the composition of the microbiota and could emphasize the link between the digestive tract and the skin and thus improve in the long term the management of animals presenting digestive and/or skin diseases while improving thus their well-being.
