the use of distribution analysis by integrated probability fitting (DANFIP) allows the degree of chimerism in horses to be accurately determined. Originally developed to detect mosaicism in human samples, DANFIP relies on the analysis of B allele frequencies (BAF) of SNP-array genotypes. We tested the methodology on in-vitro-produced chimeric samples with a known degree of chimerism and 12 individuals previously determined as 64,XX/64,XY blood chimeras. Our results demonstrate that the degree of chimerism can be successfully detected using DANFIP, even in samples with low degrees of chimerism.
