ZSM-48 zeolite, with its unique 10-membered ring pore structure and adjustable acidity, is a versatile and widely researched material for catalytic applications. This review explores the intricate relationship between its synthesis parameters and resulting functionality, focusing on n-alkane hydroisomerization. The review begins by describing the characteristic structural features of ZSM-48 and discussing various synthesis methods. It highlights modified approaches and the significant interaction between preparation parameters such as silicate and aluminate sources, Si/Al and H2O/Si ratios, Na2O content, and template selection. The influence of each parameter on crystallinity, morphology, and acid strength is discussed, emphasizing its ultimate impact on catalytic activity. Key factors influencing catalyst activity and selectivity are addressed, as well as challenges and recent advances in tailoring *MRE-based catalysts for sustainable processes.
