Japanese Long and Short Vowel Acoustics Data

This dataset contains detailed acoustic measurements of Japanese long and short vowels, as reported in Yazawa and Kondo (2019). Speakers 16 native speakers of Tokyo Japanese (8 male, 8 female), aged 21-30. Materials Disyllabic nonce words /C1V1C2V2/, produced in isolation and within a carrier sentence (see ReadingList.txt). V1 (target vowel): Long (/ii, ee, aa, oo, uu/) and short (/i, e, a, o, u/) C1 & C2 (consonantal context): /b_p/, /d_t/, /g_k/, /z_s/, /h_d/ V2 (following vowel): /e/ and /o/ Acoustic parameters Duration Formant frequencies (F1, F2, F3) measured with Praat Fn_Midpoint: nth formant measured at the midpoint of each vowel interval Fn_x: nth formant measured at the xth of 30 equidistant points within the central 60% of the vowel interval
