ARİZONA CAFE

Arizona Cafe, designed and realized by Ali Konya in Kadıköy, Istanbul, in 1988, explored the American Dream of the 1960s through an integrated spatial narrative of cinema, music, automobile culture, sculpture, graphic design, and custom-made furniture. Developed directly within the site under an intensive construction schedule, the project brought design and production into the same physical process. From its Pontiac-inspired façade composition and cinematic figures to its black, white, and red geometry, every element formed part of a unified conceptual identity. At a time when concept-driven restaurants were not yet widespread in Istanbul, Arizona Cafe represented an early and distinctive example of architecture conceived as a complete cultural experience.
