资源简介:
The specimens were modeled based on established literature and analyzed using SMART Crack Growth Technology on ANSYS 2025 R2. Constant amplitude loading was applied, diverging from the variable loading protocols utilized in previous research. Although crack growth trends were consistent with earlier findings, the constant amplitude resulted in a distinct exponential surge in the a−N curves as failure approached. Numerical validation was confirmed through similar (a/W) vs. f(a/W) curves, normalized SIF trends, and rigorous mesh independence checks. The study then introduced a secondary hole at eight strategic locations to evaluate its impact on trajectory. It was observed that minor geometric modifications significantly influenced the crack's path. These results demonstrate how a second discontinuity can steer or capture a crack, providing a new perspective on managing fatigue and failure paths in structural components.
