资源简介:
The dataset presented here was obtained by assessing the suitability of South African tailings produced during platinum group metals (PGM) mining at the Two Rivers mine for the reaction with CO₂ in a batch reactor, which was located at the Council for Geosciences, Pretoria. The dataset presented herein was gathered by experimentally investigating (2012) the use of tailings produced during Platinum Group Metals (PGM) mining for reacting with CO2 under supercritical conditions (200 °C and 160 bar) in a saline aqueous solution for various reaction times (2–24 h). The samples of PGM tailings, which are the focus of this investigation, were obtained from the Two Rivers platinum mine from one of its tailing storage facilities with coordinate numbers 24° 57’ 03.0’’S and 30° 06’ 20.1’'E.The mine tailings were analysed using various instruments, namely: The chemical composition was obtained using X-ray Fluorescence (XRF). The mineralogy was determined by X-ray Diffraction (XRD). The mineral morphology was determined using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Carbon and sulphur (C&S) content were determined using an elemental analyser (Eltra CS 800). Particle size distribution (PSD) was determined using laser diffraction.
