While L. monocytogenes has been extensively studied as a model human and animal pathogen, considerably less is known about other, non-pathogenic species, and there is especially limited knowledge regarding strains from wildlife. Here we report the draft genome sequence of L. innocua strain UAM003-1A, which was isolated from feces of a black bear.
