This article examines the effectiveness of real-life (authentic) materials in improving listening comprehension among learners of English as a Foreign Language (EFL). Real-life materials—such as podcasts, interviews, films, and everyday conversations—expose learners to natural language use, including varied accents, speech rates, and contextual cues. The paper argues that integrating such materials into classroom practice enhances comprehension, increases learner motivation, and develops communicative competence. Practical strategies for implementation and potential challenges are also discussed.It also highlights the advantages and challenges of integrating authentic materials into language teaching and offers practical recommendations for teachers. This article explains that authentic materials play a significant role in improving students’ listening skills in language learning. Authentic materials are real-life resources such as audio recordings, videos, podcasts, songs, and conversations that are not specifically designed for educational purposes but are used in the classroom to expose learners to natural language. The purpose of using authentic materials is to develop learners’ ability to understand real speech, different accents, and natural pronunciation. It is a method that enhances students’ listening comprehension, increases motivation, and prepares them for real-life communication.
