This study intended to explore how dispersal affect the role of soil bacteria and fungi on wood decomposition. To this end, we manipulated the pool of microbes dispersing into laboratory microcosms (soil and wood) using rainwater sampled across a transition zone between two vegetation types with distinct microbial communities. 16S and ITS were used to detecting soil bacterial and fungal taxa, respectively.
