Fruits have a crucial role in seed dispersal. However, little is known about the fruit dehiscence mechanisms and genes related to dehiscence zone formation in orchids. We performed RNAseq to record the expression of a selection of candidate genes in the dehiscence zone and non-dehiscence tissue of fruits of the emerging orchid model Erycina pusilla in different developmental stages
