PCR amplification of Influenza A H3N2 and RSV A in wastewater samples

In this study, the genomes of Influenza A H3N2 and RSV A were PCR amplified using novel tiled-amplicon primer sets. The data was used to determine the viral variants that were present in wastewater samples and thus were circulating in respective communities. Furthermore, the genomic coverage obtained from each sample was calculated and compared to rises and falls in active cases, showing a correlation between the amount of genomic coverage and the number of active cases in specific communities.
