Karenia brevis microbial consortium

In this study, we delve into the genomic analysis of three bacterial strains isolated from Karenia brevis cultures, which are key in understanding harmful algal blooms. Our primary objective is to explore the genomic attributes and potential interactions of these bacteria with K. brevis. Two of these strains, Croceibacter atlanticus CE21 and Pseudoalteromonas spongiae CE15, have shown algicidal properties, indicating their potential role in regulating or mitigating algal bloom dynamics. The third strain, Mameliella alba CE5, exhibits a symbiotic relationship with K. brevis, possibly affecting its growth and bloom patterns.
