Fructose Alters Dietary Intake and Gut Microbiome in Pregnant Rat Model

To investigate whether fructose diets or pregnancy alters rat gut microbiome (FC: standard chow+water; FS: standard chow+sprite; FF: 60%fructose+water). The fresh stool samples were collected before pregnancy and late pregnancy (Day 15-22). Fecal DNA was extracted using a Qiagen fecal DNA extraction kit (Qiagen). Sierragenomics (San Mateo, CA) performed Bacterial 16S rRNA gene library preparation and NGS sequencing (Sierragenomics, San Mateo, CA). The hypervariable regions of the 16S rRNA gene (16S rDNA, the V4 region) were amplified using PCR primers. The amplicons were sequenced on the Illumina MiSeq machine.
