Poyang Lake is the largest the Yangtze River-connected lake and plays an important role in maintaining the ecological function of the Yangtze River Basin. However, with the joint influence of climate change and human activities, the eutrophication status increases year by year, and the ecological function deteriorates gradually. In order to study the spatio-temporal variation characteristics of eutrophication in Poyang Lake and protect the water resources and water environment of Poyang Lake, water samples were uniformly collected from 72 points of Poyang Lake based on field sampling norms in the summer of 2021 and 2022, when algae growth peak. In the laboratory, the determination of eutrophication indicators of total nitrogen, total phosphorus, permanganate index and chlorophyll-a in sampling points was completed in strict accordance with the methods stipulated by national standards and industrial standards, and the spatial distribution data set of water eutrophication indicators in Poyang Lake during the 2021-2022 high flow period was developed. This dataset can accurately characterize the water pollution status, eutrophication status and spatial distribution characteristics of Poyang Lake during high flow season, which has important data supporting significance for pollution control of Poyang Lake basin and water environment protection of Yangtze River basin.
