Tick gut microbiome project

Ticks are vectors for numerousprevalence and diversity in Bangladesh remains poorly understood. This study aimed to employ shotgun metagenomics to investigate tick gut microbiome and characterize the pathogenic microorganisms carried by ticks in Chittagong, Bangladesh. We collected over 200 ticks from different host animals and performed morphological identification, followed by genomic DNA extraction. Subsequently, we conducted high-throughput DNA sequencing on a selected subset of samples and applied bioinformatics analysis to identify and characterize the microbial species.
