PFTCN: 1 km plant functional type dataset for China (2001–2022) with subdivided crops for the Simple Biosphere Model Version 4.2 (SiB4)

PFTCN is a 1 km annual plant functional type dataset for China from 2001 to 2022, developed for the Simple Biosphere Model Version 4.2 (SiB4). It was produced by combining ESA CCI Land Cover with high-resolution crop datasets and classifying grassland and shrub types based on climatic conditions. The dataset is provided as annual multiband GeoTIFF files in WGS84, named by year, such as 'pft_2001_China.tif'. Each band gives the fractional coverage, ranging from 0 to 1, of one of 15 SiB4 PFTs: Desert and Bare Ground (DBG), Evergreen Needleleaf Forest (ENF), Deciduous Needleleaf Forest (DNF), Evergreen Broadleaf Forest (EBF), Deciduous Broadleaf Forest (DBF), Non-Tundra Shrubs (SHB), Tundra Shrubs (SHA), Tundra Grassland (C3A), C3 Grassland (C3G), C4 Grassland (C4G), C3 Generic Crop (C3C), C4 Generic Crop (C4C), Maize (MZE), Soybeans (SOY), and Winter Wheat (WWT). The dataset can be used as PFT input for SiB4 and other land-surface or ecosystem models.
