资源简介:
This series was created by the Deeds Branch of the Department of Crown Lands and Survey (VA 538), the Department of Conservation, Forests and Lands (VA 1034) and the Department of Property and Services (VA 430).This series documents the details of Crown Grants issued between 1870 and 1991 following conversion of licences and leases to freehold title. Such conversions required compliance with a number of conditions and the full payment of the purchase price. It appears that the passing of the Land Act 1869 which set a statutory limit on the quantity of land to be sold by auction and at the same time further developed a system of conditional licences and leases leading to a freehold title, led to the creation of a separate set of registers for Crown Grants issued to licensees and lessees. Previously all Crown Grants were documented in one Register of Crown Grants (see VPRS 11865). The system of maintaining separate registers was in existence until 1988, when the department again recorded the issue of Crown Grants for lands sold by auction in this series, thus reverting to one register for all grants regardless of the basis on which the title deed had been issued.Entries in these registers were made once the conditions of the licence or lease had been complied with and the application for issue of a Crown Grant had been received. This series records the following details:Date and details of correspondence/application for issue of Crown GrantSection and applicable Land ActGrantees NameParish; Allotment and Section, AreaDate of Deed of GrantThis series is arranged numerically by sequential volume number in chronological order by the date range covered. For each date range two volumes were created; one for entries regarding applications from grantees with surnames beginning with A to L and another for those beginning with M to Z.Entries in the registers are made in chronological order by the date of application. There is an alphabetical index to parishes at the front of each volume and an index to grantees names at the back, with the exception of Books No 35 and 36 which have a separate name index.
