Toxorhynchites Assembly

Toxorhynchites are a genus of mosquitos whose larvae prey on the larvae of other mosquitos, making them a potential candinidate for mosquito mitigation strategies. During the adult stage, Toxorhynchites feed exclusively on nectar, however little is regarding their metabolic profile during this life stage. We examined Toxorhynchites fed on an exclusive sugar, water and starved diet to create a complete assembly of the metabolically active genes present in a representative species of Toxorhynchites mosquitos.
