In this project we generated a phylogeny based on target-enrichment data (Compositae1061 probe set) covering over 60% of the HAP clade s diversity (approx. 500 species). Using an integrative approach and multiple sources of information, our goal was to determine whether mountain systems worldwide have primarily acted as sources or sinks of diversity for the HAP clade. Additionally, we seek to uncover the broader macroevolutionary patterns of the lineage by testing the relative importance of long-distance dispersal versus in situ diversification in shaping its evolutionary history. Finally, we will assess whether the climatic context in which the clade radiated played a more significant role in its diversification than the acquisition of key functional traits shared amongst high-elevation species.
