MGNREGA District Level Joint Account Detail in India

This web layers contains data of MGNREGA scheme of Government of India. This provides information on district-wise joint account detail and contains information no. of joint accounts in bank where members are 4-6, no. of joint accounts in bank where members are 2-3, no. of registered persons etc. Workers are entitled to open no-frills accounts, zero balance accounts. Many times, workers are either not present at the time of account opening or are accompanied by someone (usually the GP officials or contractors). There are also instances of women workers not being entertained by bank/ post office officials for opening singly operated accounts, they are instead encouraged to open a joint account with their spouses (with the spouse being the one who primarily transacts on the account) and are at times even paid through the accounts of their spouses - this goes clearly against the idea that women workers should be allowed the opportunity to collect and keep their own wages.
